The first Presbyterian worship was held in Okeechobee County in 1964. The previous sanctuary was dedicated in 1974 as a chapel of the First Presbyterian church of Sebring. The Okeechobee Presbyterian Church became an organized congregation on June 30, 1980. Rev. William Sistar was installed as the church's first pastor and 69 souls were received as members in a special worship service by the Presbytery of St. John's. Rev. Sistar left OPC in 1985 and Rev. David Turner was installed as pastor in 1987. The church's ministry and facilities grew, with the old Sanctuary (current Fellowship Hall) being expanded twice, an addition built on the old Fellowship Hall (current Sunday School classrooms), and with the acquisition of the property for our current parking lot and new Sanctuary building.
Rev. Turner departed OPC in 1992 and Dr. Scott Leslie arrived 10 months later. The church has boosted its oureach ministries,  including the start of a a food pantry and preschool program. The completion of the new Sanctuary building enables us to enlarge our ministries of worship, compassion, teaching and fellowship within our congregation and within our community. Dr. Leslie accepted a call to a larger church in Allen, Texas, in the latter  part of  2002. A Pastor Nominating Committee was appointed and, after a year's search,
issued an invitation to call the Rev. Sally Bull as solo pastor. She accepted and  the call was approved by a vote of our congregation. Her work here began March 1, 2003.
